Belleville Board of Ed Trustee Peter Zangari Jr has issued a statement to the Nutley Watch regarding the upcoming BOE presidency.

The new chair will be decided this Tuesday, January 6, at the Board’s annual reorganization meeting, 6 PM at the high school. This is a public meeting, by the way.

Aside from private deliberations in closed session, the BOE president will be voted upon, and both newly-elected trustees Ralph Vellon and Patricia Dolan will be sworn in. We encourage everyone to attend this very important event.

Here is Mr. Zangari’s statement:

“After a victorious campaign Ralph Vellon immediately responded to the call of the people and groups who supported him and starting gathering support for a leadership position on the Board of Education. Ralph reached out to me to put the past behind us, and discussed how we could work together. His conversation was honest and frank. I immediately noticed his leadership qualities. As the longest tenured board member it was time to step up and gather the support for Ralph. Having met some resistance I kept my pursuit relentless. Ultimately two of my colleagues joined with me in supporting Ralph for President. At this point, I felt I accomplished something of importance. Not just for me, for Ralph, for Belleville, for the people who fought hard to elect him. However, five years later I am still naïve. Ralph was unable to accept. I have the feeling politicians and influencing personnel are making decisions that should be left to the board members. Unimaginably, It seems Ralph has been convinced he is either inadequate to serve as President or is not ready. I feel different. Ralph is an active father, his fight is longer than anyone, not to mention he has the highest level of education amongst board members, He is a United States Navy Veteran and a successful businessman. This is everything we need. I stand by my decision and will be nominating and supporting Ralph Vellon for President of the Belleville Board of Education and I invite my colleagues to join me.”

On a side note, I know I keep saying this…..but *now* I’ve officially seen everything.
