Reminder: Belleville Board of Education Public Meeting Monday, Oct 20

Brace yourselves, folks.

The next Belleville Board of Education public meeting is this Monday, October 20, at 7 PM in the high school auditorium.

We’ve had some severely harsh things revealed in previous BOE meetings, but if our information is the least bit accurate, Monday could go down as one of the most upsetting meetings we’ve ever had. For anyone who’s been following along these last several months, you know that’s saying a lot.

To begin with, the QSAC report for the Belleville school district is expected to be released on Monday, prior to the BOE meeting.

QSAC (Quality Single Accountability Continuum) is the Department of Education’s monitoring and evaluation system for public school districts. We’ve been waiting six months for this report to be released. Sources tell us it was held up by the state because Belleville’s scoring is even worse than any of us could have imagined.

Once the report is released, we will have a better understanding of the true damage this Board of Education has done to the school district and to these students. This is, of course, in addition to the incomprehensible financial calamity they have single-handedly caused the township.

Again, I have to warn you – we expect the results of the QSAC report to be appalling on a whole new level. It will be upsetting, but it is important for people to understand just how incompetent, reckless, negligent, and quite possibly criminal this board’s actions have been these last few years. It is important that people understand, so that they can appreciate just how crucial the November 4th BOE election is to dismantling a school board that has proven itself to be self-serving and destructive on an unthinkable level.

We’re also expecting to hear more disturbing news on another situation that has plagued this school year, and the district. On a side note, I think “plague” is a fitting word to describe those involved. You’ll hear all about it on Monday.

A township lives or dies by the quality of its school system. We’re fortunate in that Belleville still has bright, motivated students, and talented educators who have hung in there against all odds, in a hostile work environment, and are truly dedicated to their kids.

It’s not too late for us to begin salvaging this school district, bringing it back from the brink of destruction, and turning it into what every child deserves – a healthy institution of learning and growth, full of hope and opportunity.

To this end, the top priority is to get two good candidates voted onto the Board of Education on November 4th. This Board needs to be neutralized, if not completely pulled apart by force of law. To do that, we need to support two strong independent candidates. Candidates, I might add, who are not owned or influenced by our dear friends on the other side of the morality scale.

Then, we stop at nothing to find and recruit a great superintendent. Then, after we suffer through this lean financial period, we start getting money flowing into the district again, and spent where it should have been going all along – toward the education of these kids.

With the right superintendent and a culture of unity and partnership nurtured between administration and teachers, perhaps we can turn the Belleville school district into a shining beacon of education….something the town can be proud of. If we stay driven and focused, I’m confident we can achieve that.

But before any of that can happen, you need to get out there and vote on November 4th!

Hopefully people are beginning to see and truly understand why voter participation is so crucial to putting an end to corruption and public waste.

Your vote is your voice….use it!

Speaking of voices, after seeing the QSAC report on Monday, please head over to the BOE meeting at 7 PM. Be sure to let the trustees know just how well you think they’ve upheld their sworn oaths to promote the education and well-being of your children.

See you there!
