Breaking News: Charles Hood Taken Off the Ballot…Momentarily?

We’re getting reports that Judge Costello’s decision to place Charles Hood on the ballot was appealed, and overturned. I’m waiting to hear exactly which judge made this latest ruling.

In the meantime however, an appeal of the appeal is already underway. Gotta love the legal process.

I wanted to make a quick post about this because, aside from getting the news out, this is yet another clear attempt to manipulate the free election system. A system that by its very definition is supposed to put forward a selection of qualified candidates from which the people can choose. If there’s no choice, then it’s not an election. It’s a mockery of the political system in NJ.

To everyone involved in trying to suppress qualified competitors from appearing on the Belleville election ballot, what exactly are you gentlemen afraid of? Are you afraid that if the good people of Belleville are actually offered a choice, a chance to decide what they feel is best for this town, that they won’t vote for you?

If you’re truly what is best for Belleville, then why display such obvious fear in the face of any political competition? Why would it be so imperative to keep other candidates completely out of the running?

The residents of Belleville are entitled to a fair and balanced election system. The people are growing far more informed, and are ready to take back control. While you’re busy making a mockery of Essex County politics, you’re only drawing more and more unwanted attention to yourselves.

For that, I have to say “thank you”. We always welcome more gasoline for the bonfire.

If you need to resort to these methods, then clearly you believe you cannot win on your own merits alone. If Hood wants to be on the ballot, then let him be on the ballot. By shutting him down, you’re only announcing to the world your own lack of confidence in yourselves. You are confirming that Charles Hood is in fact a threat to you. You’re admitting that he can win.

You know what? I think he can.

Lastly, the more anyone attempts to manipulate and game a municipal election, the more we will be all over you. Relentlessly. That’s a promise.

And the fact of the matter is, in politics, there is always a bigger fish in the pond.
