Here is video coverage of last night’s public meeting of the Belleville Town Council.
This meeting includes the exchange between Jeff Mattingly and Councilman Joe Longo over an audio recording that we obtained via OPRA.
The recording contains what appears to be a blatant attempt by Longo to engage in bid-rigging for a township contract he was a party to back in June 2013. At the time, Longo was a sitting Board of Ed trustee.
Interestingly enough, this call took place just one month after the $2 million Clarity security contract — spearheaded by Longo — was also pushed through its own highly questionable bidding process. That multi-million dollar contract for the school district went from advertisement to award in just 12 business days.
The district is now at the tail end of litigation with Clarity and seeking damages of approximately $1.5 million from the technology vendor, citing breach of contract and fraud.
