The Belleville BoE Must Take Action Against Superintendent Feldman

Always a favorite among our readers, community member “Poor Richard” has submitted the following post to NutleyWatch.com:

Our society is quick to indict those responsible for sexual misconduct in our schools. However, we have just allowed educational misconduct to be rewarded? Over 4500 students in Belleville have been denied a quality education. Over the last 2 years, some of our children have been denied any education at all. It is criminal. The Board of Education, the Superintendent and Business Administrator are responsible for this misconduct, not the teachers.

The district has a major problem with the Special Education Program. That being said, 3 of the 4 people responsible for this problem are still in the district. Actually, two of them were just promoted into key high level positions within the district. Please do not forget that the current Superintendent was in charge of the Special Education Program before she took over the destruction of the entire district. She is the first person that should be replaced, but she is allowed to continue her program of complete destruction of our School District. It is fully documented that she has lied to our community, our children and the district’s teachers. She cannot be trusted and is completely ineffective.

Many of us were hoping that the State Monitor would cause a change in thinking from the Board of Education and the Superintendent. So far, nothing seems to have changed. They released Mr. Demeo the Board Attorney. However, they replaced him with the attorney that was hired by Mr. Demeo to attack the Belleville Education Association.  Please don’t be fooled, nothing has changed.

Although Joe Longo has resigned from the Board of Education, he will not escape further investigation. Longo, Rivera, Freda and Zangari have failed our community and our children. They have proven to be self-serving, and show no respect to the community. They have been in office longer than any of the others and failed as keepers of the public trust. Federal, State and County investigations have been initiated into their actions. Hopefully, they will pay for what they have done, but for now our children continue to be the victims of their bad behavior.

It is time for those on the Board of Education that say they care about our children to stand up and start to protect them. Ray Keubler, Jeanne Lombardi and Lillian Torres have an opportunity to separate themselves from Rivera, Zangari and Freda, but have failed so far to act. They need to act now. Conditions are not getting better.

Belleville residents must continue to stay involved. It is more important today than ever before in the Belleville School District’s history. We have a right to a quality education for our children, but have to demand it by participating at the Board of Education meetings.
