Belleville municipal election to be held May 13

The nonpartisan municipal election that will decide Belleville’s next mayor and two at-large council positions will be held on Tuesday, May 13. Council terms are for four years apiece.

Mayoral candidates include incumbent Mayor Ray Kimble and First Ward Councilwoman Marie Strumolo Burke. Kimble has served as town mayor since 2006, while Strumolo Burke has been on the council since 2004. Candidates for council at-large seats include Councilman Kevin Kennedy, who has been a council member since 1998, and board of education trustees Joseph Longo and William Freda, who are both running for the council for the first time.

Polls in the township will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Registered voters unsure of where they should go to vote can go online to the Essex County Clerk’s site and find out at https://voter.njsvrs.com/Public Access/jsp/PollPlace/PollPlaceSearch.jsp.
