Drawing A Political Line In The Sand

Note – this is an opinion piece, and as with everything on this website, it should be taken as such. If you don’t agree with what I say here, then feel free to express your differing opinions after you’ve taken the time to develop and publish your own website.

While I welcome healthy discourse throughout NutleyWatch, this article and my decision here is not up for debate. It’s time for me to take a stand.

For the sake of Belleville, I encourage you all to do the same. ~ Griff

I promised myself that I would never endorse a particular politician or party on this site.

The fact is, I don’t even like politics. Politics is just about the only area of my life where I become (for the most part) an instant cynic. I don’t care what your platform is. Your political buzzwords aren’t going to impress me. I don’t care what you tell me you stand for. Once you’re in office, that all goes out the window anyway. But it was a nice story while you told it though, wasn’t it?

Do your job, and then you have my admiration, as well as my future support. Until then, it’s all empty talk. And 9 times out of 10, it will remain just that for your entire term – empty talk.

Anyway, my direct involvement in just a few of these crazy issues in Belleville has on one hand restored my faith in politics a bit. I have had the pleasure to meet a few extraordinarily selfless individuals who genuinely care about the town and its residents, having nothing to gain from their endless, often unseen hard work. Good people are coming together for a good cause.

On the other hand I have, in a very short period of time, seen and undeniably confirmed the very worst in political scheming, behavior, and intimidation, from people we trusted (willingly or otherwise) in whatever capacity to serve our best interests.

One party’s actions have so far crossed the lines of both fiscal and moral responsibility to this town, that I don’t even have to use names for every one of you to know exactly who is behind it all, and who is really to blame. Don’t worry, we haven’t even gotten started on him yet.

In the meantime, I feel no choice but to officially endorse ANYONE who opposes them, just for the sake of making sure their campaign dies the slow, undignified death it truly deserves.

It’s no accident that I chose the image of an infamous, depraved bloodsucker as the “mascot” for this article. If I could cast a write-in vote for Vlad The Impaler, at this point, I would literally vote for him over any one of these three individuals.

Vlad-Draculya

“Vote ‘V’ for Vlad! Vlad Tepes!

‘V’ for Victory in 2014! ….”

And so it comes to this.

This isn’t about which political candidate(s) I prefer. Normally I don’t even care who is in power, as long as they are doing their jobs, and serving the public trust to the best of their abilities. However, I’m so disgusted by what I’ve seen in our investigations over the last few weeks, that I’m left with no choice but to declare my support in opposing it.

So, to any of our readers who may not agree with my decision to openly support a particular candidate or campaign on NutleyWatch, I apologize for any literature you may see here in the near future. I can assure you that it won’t be excessive. No matter what, NutleyWatch is not going to become yet another political platform – that’s not what we’re about.

I vowed to do some good in the community. If that includes supporting the opponents of a corrupt regime, as long as I’m confident we’re not trading one collection of crooks for another, you can bet that I will do it. After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

This isn’t about politics. This is about right versus wrong, morality versus immorality, and to a certain extent, good versus evil.  That *is* what NutleyWatch is all about. Therefore, I am drawing a line in the sand right here.

To Mayor Ray Kimble, Councilman Kevin Kennedy, and Councilman Hopeful Charles Hood:

On behalf of the Nutley Watch, I am extending an open offer of our enthusiastic assistance in distributing any factual information and relevant literature online that may help your campaign prevail in the upcoming elections.

If you want to quickly reach your audience in 2014, the internet is the place to do it. We are already reaching several thousand NJ residents each week right here. Hundreds more are spreading the word via social media, as well as word of mouth. We have strong backing, and our growth has been exponential. In less than one month, our model has already proven itself many times over.

If you need help reaching and navigating an increasingly sophisticated, tech-savvy audience of all ages, I’m your man.

I ask nothing in return, except that you pay it forward to the people of Belleville whom you serve.

As long as you’re doing the right thing, for the good of the people (and not just a select few), The Nutley Watch is behind you.
